URGENT - The Electrical Safety Office has advised that Householders and Tradespeople need to take extreme care with Foil insulation installations. Read their e-Alert to avoid risking death or injury to yourself, your family or tradespeople working at your premises.

Do you have foil insulation that was installed under the Australian Government Energy Efficient Homes Package? Following recent unfortunate developments, it is important that you arrange your FREE Foil Insulation Safety Check.

Master Electrician CEO Malcolm Richards urges, “Under no circumstances should home owners go into the roof space themselves. There is a very real risk of injury or death if this foil is touching an electrical fitting. Don’t risk your safety – have it checked by an expert.”

All homeowners with foil insulation installed under the Home Insulation Program are urged to contact the on Government’s Hotline 131 792 to obtain a Reference Number. The homeowner then contacts their preferred Electrical Contractor to undertake the test stating this reference number. The contractor will then be reimbursed by the government. Any remedial work required to fix problem ceilings will also be reimbursed by the government, as long as it is related to faulty foil insulation.
